Aldi Eltoro -Taco Kit

Ok,
My first "review" is for Aldi Stores Taco Kit,

Now before we start, Why Aldi?
well before i moved interstate I imagined there would be plenty of jobs for all, Little did i know that after 2 months and 100's of job applications later I would spend all of my life savings and be begging the goverment for assistance, THis was NOT part of my plan, I was to move to the City and find work, Any work. So after 8 weeks of eating pretty crap fatty food, (mainly sausages) I thought It was about time I tried to shed some of the many kilos ive put on while Ive been looking for work. Having just been granted the "dole" I went to my local supermarket and was shocked at the prices, The price of everyday items seems to be almost twice what i was paying in Newcastle (N.S.W.) But here in Brisbane (Q.L.D.) people seem not to mind payng this to survice.
So I did the senible thing and went to ALDI, Yes I know Some of ALDI's prices are not That great but for the most part the products are cheaper.

So for the first review

Ok so Im no "foodie" Ive been in and out of very poor paying jobs for the last 10 years Ive never really "eaten out" the closest being "fast food palaces", I know this may sound wierd but it's all true, even eating at a local "RSL" is WAY beyond my means. But i know what I like and when you get to my stage, counting the cents till "death day" It may all start to make sence.

Now when you go to the other supermarkets the "usual" Taco kit will come wth 6-8 Tacos
This kit has 15! yesiree 15, But this may come as a letdown, read on...

The cost of the Pack was 3.99 not bad concidering the "brand name" packs start at 7$ and come with fewer tacos.

The other ingreediants needed are (all purchased at ALDI)
500g mince 5$ This could have been cheaper elsewhere.
half a Lettuce
Grated cheese which was $4.19 for 500g, this may have been cheaper at Wollies
2 Tomatoes
1 teaspoon of oil

The preperation is pretty simple, Brown the meet add the water and packet of seasoning and serve with cheese, tomato and drissle with another packet from the box, The sause.

Some suggestions to make this even leaner, when browning the mice after about 2 mins add a little water, I know water will "come out" of the mince, but after its been browned for a bit strain ALL the water off, this will drain a lot of the oil and other fats that are in the mice, then leave sit while preparing the cup of water with the Taco Seasoning.
And thats about it.
The flavor was quite good, in fact exactly the same as the brand name packs.
when i went back to make another I added a splash of "tobasco sause" into the mince and gave it a good stir, I use a Tobasco sause "ripoff" called Nazirs "fiery hot chilli sause" this costs a 3rd of the "brand name" Product and is the same in "spicyness" and flavor.

The main problem i have with the ALDI ELTora brand is to make 15 of these you would need to use very little meat in each one. the pic on the packet has MORE meat in each taco that i had used which by my calculation would make about 6-8 way of the 15 mark.
But still you can buy the seasonig and the sause at coles or wollies in the home brand range quite cheaply and make up some more mince to use the other tacos.

So how about that ALDI cheese, is it any good?
Well if i needed any Grated Cheese in the past I would always use Homebrand or Saving's brand.
which cost about the same or more, well the aldi one is suprisingly good, its got a great flavor the other "cheap" grated cheeses lack.

Please note in the below "finished" photos, I had omited the sause!
they look AND TASTE much better with it added!.

The lettce looks a bit Brown in the piccys, it wasnt so bad while eating!
Remember thease are all taken with a chepo digital camera, I am a qualified photographer and know the whole process for taking "nice" photo's of food. But I want to show what it really looks like, not the "fakeo" pics on the box.

Welcome

Ive taken the plunge and started another Blog!
My first blog Sound Like Shelac was "supposed" to launch my New way of restoring Discs and Tapes onto the market, and hopefully into work.
This has failed, Even though I have had many comments from world renown Sound Engineers who are "gobsmaked" by my work.
Ive tried almost everything. Ive tried to contact various Archives and CD compaines to no avail, It seems all who reads my letters are the Reciptionest or the HR person who quike frankly wouldent understand any of my letters of introduction. Its not thier fault of course, All I want is someone who UNDERSTANDS what I do to take the time to hear some of my work, This can and will never happen, Ive kinda resined to myself that a 20 year resecrh and development period was all in vain.

So I decided to document My downfall on this blog,
Ok you may ask why the depressed tone so early on?.

well as we all know the job market is pretty bad at the moment (thats the understatmeent of the decade!)
But all ive wanted to do is work with audio and in particular Archive audio, Not that much to ask you might say.

But the last 10 years of my "existance" have been pretty dire.
and now there are a lot more "unemployed" people out there, I thought I'd share some of my "thrifty" eats with you and of course chart my "doings" in the vain hope someone out there listens.
